About Seth Kingsbury

I am originally a trained chef of twenty years but have always dabbled with candle making.

The creative side of cookery has helped me explore interesting techniques and ideas to break barriers in the candle world.

I draw my inspiration from nature and I am captivated by its organic textures and unpredictable patterns.

The best part of making my candles is using different pouring techniques and playing with temperatures, colours and fragrances.

There is always an element of surprise as I pull each candle from its mould. I love that no two of my candles will ever be the same and I will never be short of candle ideas.

How long have you been creating your candles?

I have spent  over twenty years experimenting with blocking drains and destroying carpet but the last six years have been spent perfecting my ideas.

How did you get started?

My first candle was a primary school experiment using milk cartons as a mould and pouring wax over ice. I was fascinated.

What is your greatest inspiration?

My greatest is the textures and patterns in nature and a love for natural light.

What is the greatest challenge to owning and operating your own business?

The greatest challenge of owning and operating Seth Kingsbury Candle Art is lack of time and keeping up with a manic amount of candle ideas.

What is the best thing about owning your own creative business?

The best thing about owning my own creative business is having no barriers or restrictions on my flowing ideas….just the freedom to create.
